"Dunnik" (dunnik)

Anyone running a Nexus 7 in their car? As a mod it seems to be gaining popularity, as it can be cheaper than a fully-featured Double DIN headunit, especially if you do it yourself.

Been considering it since the Toyota is double DIN and the stock unit sucks giant donkey balls. Not even an AUX input.

If your car has an amp - factory or otherwise - you can just use that, apparently.

my civic has a double din up high and a single din down low, so double din has had a variety of phones and tablets, and single din has a standard stereo to take the input.
dont know what other suckers do

You chose a 4-way amp with an 3mm aux input and then sort it to the speakers. I'm really tempted to do this in my car. What I really want in app & screen mirroring with my phone. That would rock supreme.

Sure am, in my R32 GTR. Relocated the HVAC controls to the glovebox and mounted my Nexus with no issues. Running a Kenwood head unit mounted behind it, and they're synced using Bluetooth.

But usually isn't the amp is incorporated into the head unit?

I've always wanted to install a separate amp system for my external speakers and one for my internal speakers. This seems like a clever way to potentially control both seamlessly.
